Islamic cleric distributes food items to less privileged

The founder of Lutful-lahi International, Shaykh Mohammad Robiu Adebayo has provided relief package to ease the discomfort of the COVID-19 lockdown on people of Oworoshoki community in Lagos State.

The food distribution to the vulnerable is to cushion the effort of the government in easing the effect of the lockdown on the masses.

The food distribution was supervised by the cleric in order to ensure smooth distribution and adhere to all norms of social distancing and lockdown caveats.

The religious scholar said this period is challenging for everyone, most especially the poor and daily wage earners.

“Government should not expect the people to sit at home hungry.

Their whole livelihood depends on the daily wages they earn, they don’t have luxury nor savings to help them ride through this time,” he said.

He expressed worry over the politicisation of Covid-19 relief materials to the masses.

“While the Covid-19 pandemic ravages the global space, the government, who should provide palliatives for the masses, has decided to politicize the one made available for the vulnerable and aged ones forms,” he said.

He decided to come to the aid of the residents of his community, by providing the less privilege with food item, through his self-funded foundation, in the name of his congregation, Lutfullah International.
