After series of internal crises that hit the Kaduna Polytechnic (KADPOLY), in the last 10 years, the institution is now set to hold a joint convocation ceremony for over 67,000 graduands this weekend.
Addressing the media ahead of the exercise, rector of the school, Dr. Mohammed Bello Ibrahim, said graduands that completed their academic programmes between 2004 and 2015, would be awarded various certificates.
According to him, President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to be the special guest of honour.
In addition to the convocation ceremony, the school would also celebrate its diamond jubilee.
“As you may be aware, Kaduna Polytechnic last held its convocation 10 years ago due to series of crises the polytechnic passed through before the coming of the present management,” Ibrahim said.
The polytechnic currently boasts 40,000 students with 44 academic departments. It is the second largest academic institution in the country after Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
As part of the convocation ceremonies, Ibrahim said, there will also be a meritorious service award/dinner, where past Nigerian principals/rectors of the polytechnic, as well as long-servicing staff members, who have spent 35 years and above in the service of the institution would be honoured.
