Lafiaji-Okuneye is new provost of AOCOED

Lagos State Governor and Moderator, Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED), Ijanikin, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed Prof. Bidemi Lafiaji-Okuneye, as the new provost of the institution.

Lafiaji-Okuneye, who assumed duty on Monday as the substantive head of the college was until her appointment a lecturer at the Department of Human Kinetics, Sports and Health Education, Lagos State University, Ojo.

This followed the expiration of the tenure of the immediate past provost, Dr. Omolola Ladele, on Saturday, January 11, 2020.

A statement by the spokesperson of the school, Mrs. Olanike Aina, said the appointment of the new provost took effect on Sunday, January 12, 2020.

“Lafiaji-Okuneye, a professor of Health Education, was born on February 2, 1972, on Lagos Island, Lagos State. She obtained Doctor of Philosophy (Health Education) from University of Ibadan (2005), Master of Education (Health Education), UNILAG, (1999), Bachelor of Science (PHE), LASU (1995) and Diploma in Physical and Health Education from LASU (1991).”

The new provost once served as the Acting Dean of Students, LASU as well as chairman of various committees and external assessors in various institutions including UI and AOCOED.

It added that Lafiaji-Okuneye is a member of many professional bodies and had authored and co-authored several books on Physical and Health Education, including the popular ‘Physical Education for Primary Schools 1 to 6’ textbook.
