Aborisade: Badenoch defaming Nigeria for voters’ appeal

A British-trained lawyer, Chief Niyi Aborisade, has berated the leader of the British opposition party, Kemi Badenoch, for saying she cannot obtain Nigerian citizenship for her children because she is a woman, describing it as defamation against Nigeria.

He explained that, unknown to Badenoch, the Nigerian constitution does not discriminate against the female gender.

The human rights activist, who is aspiring to contest for the governorship of Oyo State in 2027 on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), said Badenoch lied, pointing out that the Nigerian constitution is open to all.

He said: ‘’Badenoch was born Kemi Olufunto Adegoke in Britain in 1980 to Nigerian parents. That was before January 1, 1983, when the British Nationality Act, 1981, took effect and provided that children born to foreign parents would automatically acquire British citizenship by birth.

“So, all children born in the UK became automatic British citizens. Badenoch was a beneficiary of this UK liberal policy, and even though she was taken to Nigeria by her parents at a relatively young age, she returned to the UK at 16.

“Not minding that she is the daughter of aliens in the UK, she is now the leader of the Conservative Party.

The platform that made her a British citizen and elevated her beyond her wildest dreams.”
