Firm seeks solution to cases of divorce

Worried by the high rate of divorce cases in the society, a Lagos-based commercial law firm, Debo-Akande LLP, has organized an event involving lawyers and other stakeholders in the justice sector to find a lasting solution to the menace of broken homes in Lagos.

The maiden event, titled: “The Millenial’s Divorce: Challenges and Intricacies”, held at the law firm’s office in Lagos was attended by legal luminaries from different sectors, both private and public.

They converged to brainstorm over some of the challenges in divorce and the need to tackle the drawbacks posed by the provision of the existing laws guarding matrimonial issues.The event was organized to consolidate on the relentless effort of the firm to maintain its stellar approach in providing the best legal means available to clients. 

According to the principal partner, Mr. Debo Akande, though this is the maiden edition, the firm plans to have more of such legally educating debates in the future as a forum for lawyers to come together and determine legal issues as a unit.

“This idea is in fact an innovative one and a step in the right direction. So many legal issues and topics pertaining to divorce were discussed including: custody, the two years rule and grounds for dissolution, the elements of a valid marriage, steps to take when marriage petition is the only way out, all of which were thoughtfully articulated and delivered by various legal minds,” he declared.
