Lions club installs new president

Lions Club International District 404-A3 Nigeria has officially presented Lion Duke Chukudi Odinde as the ninth President of the Lagos Icon Lions Club, Ogudu.

The installation took place during an investiture and fundraising ceremony where new club officers were also inducted.

At the event, the District Governor, Lion, Dr. Folasade Shotomide, urged newly installed officers to be diligent and uphold excellence in service to humanity.

In his acceptance speech, Odinde pledged that his tenure would be impactful, with a focus on community-based projects and humanitarian services.

He highlighted previous accomplishments of the club, such as the establishment of an ICT centre at Ogudu Junior Grammar School and the provision of vendor stalls.

Chairman of the occasion, Chief Olayinka Ogunmekan, praised the global impact of the Lions Club, noting its presence in over 200 countries and its recognition at the United Nations.

In his valedictory speech, the past president, Lion Osaro Godwin Emovon charged the new president to make sure his tenure be filled with success, inspiration and greater impact.

The guest speaker, Dr. Adeshina Adelaja emphasised the growing importance of urban agriculture in tackling food insecurity and inflation, especially in densely populated areas like Lagos State.
