Dinovate launches centre to champion media-led social impact across Africa

Dinovate, a creative media and communications company widely recognised for its collaborations with brands and development organisations, has formally launched the Dinovate Centre for Media and Social Impact (DCMSI), a non-profit initiative committed to unearthing underreported stories, producing research-driven media, and driving community-led transformation through powerful storytelling.

This launch marks a bold new phase in Dinovate’s efforts to position media as a tool for systemic change. At a time when inclusive storytelling, authentic representation, and evidence-based advocacy are more essential than ever, DCMSI will serve as a platform for changemakers, creatives, and researchers working at the intersection of media, development, and public policy.

Temidayo Ibitoye, Founder and Chief Executive of Dinovate, explained that the Centre was created to go beyond project-based work. “We want to shift narratives, equip communities, and influence systems using the power of story,” he said. “Through DCMSI, we will tell stories that matter and back them with research, training, and action.”

The Centre will operate as a dynamic ecosystem, supporting inclusive storytelling and advocacy campaigns that elevate marginalised voices and draw attention to grassroots solutions. It also aims to train the next generation of media changemakers through fellowships, hands-on training, and practical experiences under the Dinovate Academy. In addition, DCMSI will conduct participatory research and engage policymakers, closing the gap between data, human stories, and real-world decisions.

The Centre will also work closely with development partners, non-governmental organisations, and social movements to design media tools that enable impact in areas such as climate adaptation, disability inclusion, education, and governance.

Among its initial projects are participatory photography initiatives in crisis-affected regions, storytelling campaigns focused on statelessness in Africa, and digital storytelling labs targeting young people in remote and underserved communities.

Building on Dinovate’s established record of leading media interventions with global institutions, DCMSI is set to become a hub for impact-driven media innovation. It will provide technical support, co-create strategic campaigns, and undertake field research that centres the lived experiences of communities often left behind.

“We see storytelling not as charity, but as infrastructure,” Ibitoye noted. “We are building a future where stories are tools for equity, not just entertainment.”
