Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has officially unveiled committees and award framework for the 10th edition of the Lagos Public Relations Industry Gala and Awards (LaPRIGA) 2025.
Addressing journalists in Lagos recently, chairman of the Lagos State Chapter, Samuel Ayetutu described LaPRIGA as the ‘gold standard’ for recognising excellence in public relations and communication practice in Nigeria.
Saying the10th edition will be celebrated under the theme, “Nox Excellentia” – The night of excellence, he added this also signifies celebration of brilliance, creativity and integrity in the profession.
Over the past decade, he observed LaPRIGA has grown beyond an award ceremony, and evolved into a movement that celebrates innovation, professionalism and the enduring impact of strategic communication.
He disclosed tha LaPRIGA 2025 will celebrate professionals and organisations whose works have made measurable impact on brands, communities and the nation at large.
Ayetutu also announced that communications strategist and scholar, Chido Nwakanma, will chair the selection committee, while seasoned PR professional, Tokunbo George-Taylor, will chair the Planning Committee.
Both committees, he explained, were selected for their proven track records and deep commitment to excellence.
In his address, Nwakanma disclosed that the LaPRIGA Awards Panel has introduced a refined framework that consolidates award categories from 22 to 18, to maintain focus, transparency and prestige. The categories, he explained, reflect evolving industry trends such as technology integration, sustainability communication and data-driven storytelling.
To him, “the redefined framework ensures that LaPRIGA continues to recognise the best of creativity, ethics and measurable impact within our profession.”
The new structure includes notable categories such as PR Agency of the Year, Corporate Communication Professional of the Year, Excellence in Crisis and Issues Management, Best Use of Technology in PR and Model Agency of the Year, among others. The judging process, he added, will adopt a rigorous 100-point evaluation system assessing entries based on strategy, creativity, execution and impact.
President & Chief Executive Officer Upticomm Marketing Company, Segun Mcmedal, recalled, “when I was the chairman, my team felt we should start LaPRIGA. Often times, we notice PR practitioners toil for others. We don’t get celebrated and we know our contributions in the country. That was why we started LaPRIGA.”
Representing the Planning Committee Chair, Tope Akande, who serves as the committee’s secretary, reaffirmed the team’s commitment to delivering a memorable and well-executed edition of LaPRIGA 2025.
The Chapter’s Vice Chairman, Eniola Mayowa, acknowledged the media for their consistent partnership
The event, scheduled for December 12, 2025, at the MUSON Centre, Lagos, will align with the Chapter’s New Lagos Agenda – a vision focused on professional excellence, innovation, capacity development, collaboration and public impact.
