NACA inaugurates Procurement Committee for 2016 capital projects

As part of efforts to improve accountability and efficiency in its procurement processes, the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has inaugurated a Procurement Planning Committee that will ensure a robust implementation of NACA 2016 capital projects.

Director General (DG) of NACA, Prof. John Idoko, at the event, which was held at NACA Headquarters in Abuja, said the inauguration of the procurement planning committee is in pursuant to part V, section 21(1) of the public procurement act of 2007.

Idoko called on members of the committee to put in their best in order to avoid past mistakes made, pointing out the importance of a viable procurement and supply chain processes.

It was reliably gathered that the inaugurated procurement planning committee of NACA will prepare the needs assessment and evaluation of required goods, works and services for the implementation of 2016 capital projects by the agency.

In furtherance to expected duties, the committee will among others carry out appropriate market and statistical surveys, which will on this basis prepare analysis for cost implications of any proposed procurement.

Responding to questions, the Director of Administration and Supply NACA who serves also as Committee Chairman, Mr. Emmanuel Chenge, said that subject to stipulated regulations the committee will from time to time make adjustments where necessary in order to ensure that procurement processes of NACA are transparent and efficient. He then assured of the committee’s commitment as they discharge their duties in the planning of procurement processes.

Head of Procurement NACA, Yusuf Argungu, assured of a viable planning while calling on the committee members to carry out their duties diligently, stating that procurement planning is a collective decision which will trigger actions in obtaining economy of scale and reduction in procurement cost for NACA.

It is gathered that subject to laid operational guidelines, the committee inaugurated shall in its planning processes; advertise and solicit for bids in adherence to the procurement act as well as invitation of credible persons from relevant bodies to serve as observers in every procurement process of NACA.
