The National Council of Muslim Youth Organisation (NACOMYO), Lagos Chapter, has urged Nigerians to unite as one country to overcome current challenges.

Speaking during the group’s media parley to mark Nigeria’s 62nd Independence Day, Lagos State Coordinator, Isiaka Salami, advised Nigerians not to give up on the country because of the current economic situation, but to continue to put the government on its toes to ensure its carries out its duties.

He said Nigeria’s independence has given rise to hope, optimism and joy, Nigerians have consistently lived with optimism that tomorrow will be better than today.

Nigerians, over the years, have witnessed several devastating situations, yet, they have continued to cope and still prefer to indulge the state with hope and aspiration that the country will surmount its challenges one day,” he said.

He added that it has become more imperative to ensure necessary measures are put in place to prevent the country from the precipice.

“We call on governments at the state and at federal levels to live up to expectations. The need to unite as a country is more impressive at this time. The country is experiencing daunting challenges, thus, it is only through unity and support that we can collectively lead the state from its current quagmire.”
