Informed by its belief that concerted and deliberate efforts at marketing Nigeria’s non-oil sector would diversify the economy and make it less vulnerable to fluctuations in crude oil prices, the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (NIMN) has as theme for this year’s marketing conference, ‘Marketing Nigeria’s Non-oil Sector For Sustainable Growth and Development.’

President, NIMN, Mr. Tony Agenmonmen told The Guardian that the conference would attract professionals from different sectors of the economy as well as the academia, government functionaries and students, as “we seek other options and come up with distillation of ideas that would be beneficial to the country,” he said.
He hopes that government will adopt the conference’s proposals as the institution’s input to policy making and execution to boost the country’s economy.

The conference, which holds in Port Harcourt on May 9, will also feature election of a new president and executives into the council, with Agenmonmen being a contestant, as he vows to continue to push the mentorship programme of the institute if re-elected.

Expected as keynote speaker is Chairman Editorial Board, Thisday Newspaper, Mr. Segun Adeniyi. The panel comprise Prof. John Oteigbe of University of Port Harcourt, Mr. Femi Awoyemi, Chief Executive, Proshare Nigeria Limited, Mrs Nkechi Ali-Balogun, Principal consultant at Necci Limited among others.
