Ondo celebrates 10th year coronation anniversary of Osemawe

Activities are in top gear to mark the tenth year coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo, Jilo III, the Osemawe and Paramount Ruler of Ondo Kingdom.

Speaking at a press roundtable in Lagos in preparation for the anniversary, Bankole Ademulegun, Chairman, Publicity Committee for the event, attributed the palpable peace, progress, developments and God’s mercy in Ondo Kingdom in the last ten years to the result of purposeful and progressive tenure of Oba Kiladejo.

According to Ademulegun, the tenth edition of the monarch’s installation anniversary is highly significant as it would witness the celebration of a number of highly positive projects initiated and completed in the past 10 years. These include marking of the 500 years existence of Ondo Kingdom on the Annual Ekimogun Day, 2016. The celebration has been used to raise funds for developmental projects in the kingdom, in the time past.”

He submitted that “in addition to several infrastructural developments by the government, there are a number of feats the Osemawe personally achieved within the decade which include the establishment of Eki FM, a community radio station which came on air in 2006.
Furthermore, just as he envisioned Ondo City in 2010 and proclaimed it a city in December, 2015, His Royal Highness as the Chancellor of Wesley University, Ondo, mobilized indigenes and friends to resuscitate the university. He is the current Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas.”

He disclosed that “the uniqueness of this year’s historic event would be the conferment of chieftaincy titles on some notable individuals, who have achieved greatly in their different endeavours. They include: Senator David Mark, immediate past Senate
President; Senator Dr. Olorunnimbe Mamowora, former Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly; Sir Kessington Adebutu, a business tycoon; Chief Dele Fajemirokun, a business mogul; Lady Maiden Ibru, Chairman and Publisher, Guardian Newspapers; Prof. Friday Okonofua, a professor of Gynecology and Obstetrics, and pioneer Vice Chancellor of Ondo State University of Medical Sciences; Erelu Ojuolape Ojora, Society Matriarch; Prof. Oye  Ibidapo-Obe, former Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos;     Mrs. Funbi Akinnola, a Christian author, blogger and inspirational speaker; and, Chief Simeon Akinlonu.”

Although activities marking the historic occasion have began in the third quarter of 2015, with the monarch hosting different interest groups, empowerment of youths, and a day of feast with the king. However, the ceremony continues with a week-long programmes which include between are as follows: Community Health Programme, Youth Sports Competition and Empowerment Programme, Inter-Denominational Service, Commissioning of Projects, Installation of Honorary Chiefs, Royal Banquet, and the Ekimogun Day at the Oba Adesanoye Civic Centre.

This year’s Ekimogun Day celebration will see Ondo sons, daughters and friends in colourful attires, feasting and paying homage to His Royal Majesty especially, celebrating with him ten years of peace and progress in the kingdom.
