Management of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic (RUGIPO), Owo has donated hand sanitisers and hand washing soaps to Ondo State government, as a contribution to the fight against COVID-19.

Rector of the institution, Mr. Gani Ogundahunsi, informed that the donated items were produced by ‘Women in technical education,’ a formidable group with the workforce of RUGIPO made up of enviable women.

Commending the effort of governor Rotimi Akeredolu at halting the scourge from spreading, Ogundahunsi said, “It is in this spirit that RUGIPO is complementing the good efforts of the governor by donating these sanitisers and hand washing soaps.”

He thanked the governor for his good leadership and kind consideration to RUGIPO in the production of nose masks.

Receiving the donated items, Governor Akeredolu commended the vision of the RUGIPO’s governing council’s chairman, Mr. Banji Alabi and members of the board in setting standard in the institution.

He recalled that the council’s Chairman called him to notify him of the capability of school’s Artisan Centre in producing nose masks, and expressed delight that the 20000 accorded to the centre had been delivered.

He further said the production was shared among tailors in the three senatorial districts in the state but the interesting thing was that the institution was not left out of the scheme.

While appreciating the donation, he assured that prudent distribution would follow. He also affirmed that the chairman of the council has presented the financial needs of the institution and that such will receive necessary consideration.

The governor advised individuals to stay safe and follow all the precautionary measures.
