NMA holds 62nd AGM, delegates conference next week in P’Harcourt

The 62nd Annual General Conference and Delegates Meeting of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) is scheduled to hold from May 15 to 21, 2022, at the EUI Centre, Plot 11, Sani Abacha Road, GRA Phase 3, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State with the theme, ‘ Current Emergencies in building a resilient health system for Nigeria: Situation Analysis and Solutions.’

NMA, in a statement signed by Dr. Ekpe Philips Uche, Secretary General, and Dr. Aniekeme Aniefiok Uwah, National Publicity Secretary, said the Chairman of the occasion will be Dr. Peter Otunuya Odili, former Governor of Rivers State while the Special Guest of Honour at the auspicious event will be His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Chief Host will be His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Executive Governor of Rivers State, while the Host will be, Prof. Innocent A. O. Ujah, President, Nigerian Medical Association.

Also expected as the Guests of Honour are Dr. Osagie Ehanire, Honourable Minister of Health and Senator Olorunimbe Mamora, Honourable Minister of State for Health, while the Special Guest is Dr. Ndidi Chikanele Utchay, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Health.

The keynote speaker is Prof. Daprim S. Ogaji, a Professor of Health Systems and Public Health, University of Port Harcourt/ University of Port-Harcourt Teaching Hospital, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

Other Speakers will include: Dr. Golden Owhonda, Director of Public Health and Disease Control, Rivers State Ministry of Health; and Prof. Chima Onoka, a professor of Health Systems and Public Health, FCT Abuja.
