As a form of charity, the family of Shinaba has donated a mosque to Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria.

The Jamaat received the donation of the new mosque from the family of Alhaji Tajudeen Shinaba as Sadaqat Jariyah in memory of their late father and mother, who were devoted members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.

The mosque is located in Ayetoto Street, White House Bus Stop, Sabo Ajangbadi area of Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State. The building was formerly a four-bedroom flat built along the highway into Ajangbadi community on the Lagos Badagry expressway.

While alive, Pa Tajudeen Shinaba was always the largest donor to welfare activities and other projects for the propagation of Islam in Agidigbin, Ikeja, Lagos state and other parts of Nigeria.

He was an educationist, sports administrator and represented Nigeria in sporting events in and outside the country, namely the 1974 West Africa University Games in Ghana, 1975 Summer University Olympics in Rome, as well as the 1977 Summer University Olympics Games in Sofia, Bulgaria.

He also went to Greece and Bulgaria in 1990 with states contingents for sporting training. He was a widely travelled man; he visited the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy, and America at various times.

While receiving the donated mosque, Amir, Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria, Barrister Alatoye Folorunso Azeez, appreciated the family for the great honour done to their late parents and urged Muslims to emulate such gestures in the memory of their late parents.

He said the reward of blessings of prayers in the mosque would always be recorded for the late parents as a great act of worship. According to the Amir, “ the total trust the Late Alhaji Tajudeen Adedeji Shinaba in the jamaat was demonstrated in his will when he vested the authority for the disposition of his estate among his heirs in the jamaat. His legacy continued through his wife as she too followed in his footsteps until her demise”.

Meanwhile, the family has deposed all documents relating to the property to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat Nigeria.
