Transforming Africa’s Tech Landscape: The visionary driving innovation across continents

Africa is experiencing a tech renaissance, with a growing emphasis on innovation, entrepreneurship, and leveraging technology to solve unique challenges. At the forefront of this transformation is Seye Folajimi, a visionary leader, entrepreneur, and technologist who is not only redefining Africa’s tech ecosystem but also extending his influence globally.

Seye Folajimi’s journey into the tech world is a tale of passion and determination. He began programming in 2009, teaching himself PHP, MySQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in just one month. By the following month, he had built a social network—a feat that set the stage for his illustrious career.

“JavaScript was simple back then,” he quips, recalling the five hours it took to master it. Despite limited resources and no formal mentors, Folajimi’s hunger for knowledge drove him to navigate the complexities of web development using only three PDFs, including PHP for Dummies. His early days were marked by trial and error, like manually uploading hundreds of files to servers without knowing about FTP or zipping, a process he would later refine as he gained expertise.

In 2012, while still a 200-level student at the University of Benin, Folajimi registered his first company, Next Order Technology, signaling the start of his entrepreneurial journey. Over the years, he took on notable projects, from building school portals to creating apps like YouAcquire, which provided students with access to past examination questions.

Fast forward to today, and Folajimi stands at the helm of Positive.ng, a technology holding company driving innovation across multiple sectors. Under his leadership, Positive.ng serves as an incubator for cutting-edge ideas and products that address real-world challenges while positioning Africa as a leader in tech innovation.

“At Positive.ng, we aim to create solutions that not only meet local needs but also have a global impact,” Folajimi explains.

One of Positive.ng’s standout products is FastCV AI (FastCV.org), an AI-powered platform revolutionizing the job application process. By offering tools for creating professional CVs, cover letters, and LinkedIn profiles, FastCV AI is empowering job seekers across Africa to compete in an increasingly competitive job market.
A Vision for Africa’s Workforce

Seye Folajimi’s work extends beyond product innovation to fostering talent development. Through platforms like Ultralearn, he provides educational resources and mentorship to aspiring technologists, equipping them with the skills to succeed in a fast-changing world.

His initiatives align with the broader mission of using AI to address complex global challenges, from workforce empowerment to healthcare and environmental sustainability. “Technology is a tool for change, but its true potential lies in how we apply it to improve lives,” he emphasizes.
Global Influence and Local Impact

While his work is deeply rooted in Africa, Folajimi’s influence spans continents. Over the years, he has worked remotely with companies in the UK, USA, Singapore, and India, contributing to global projects while bringing international best practices to his ventures in Africa.

One of his notable endeavors includes collaborating with Seecure Space, a mental health company in Kenya and South Africa, further underscoring his commitment to leveraging technology for social good.

Folajimi’s commitment to empowering youth is evident in his recent acquisition of Ultralearn, a free educational platform designed to upskill the next generation. Through webinars, events, and other initiatives, Ultralearn has already impacted over 4,000 users, providing them with valuable skills and knowledge.

This focus on social impact aligns with Folajimi’s broader vision of using technology to address societal challenges and create a more equitable future for Africa.

Driving Innovation Across Continents
For Folajimi, the future of Africa’s tech landscape is bright, but it requires visionary leadership and collaboration. He envisions a continent where technological solutions not only address local challenges but also set global standards.
“Through Positive.ng and its subsidiaries, my mission is to create a world where technology bridges the gap between potential and opportunity,” he says.

As Africa’s tech sector continues to gain momentum, leaders like Seye Folajimi are proving that the continent has the talent, resilience, and creativity to compete on a global scale. His work through Positive.ng, FastCV AI, and other ventures serves as a blueprint for how technology can drive innovation, create opportunities, and transform lives.

Seye Folajimi isn’t just shaping the future of Africa’s tech industry—he’s inspiring a generation to dream bigger, innovate boldly, and contribute meaningfully to the global digital economy.
