A United States-based Nigerian Psychologist, Dr. Tayo Tejuosho, has unveiled a non-profit organisation, Tayo Tejuosho Cares Foundation, to focus on development-oriented issues in society.

The group is aimed at tackling issues such as education, helping orphanage homes, widows, out-of-school children and the less-privileged in the country.

Tejuosho said: “We have been doing charity and philanthropic work for the past 17 years, but in 2021, as part of our desire to do more, we decided to pull efforts together by establishing the foundation.”

He said the group believes the best way to build better communities is by investing in education and health-related initiatives for children.

“Over the last 17 years, we have provided about $300,000 in support of more than 3,000 people, including out-of-school children, physically challenged, poor widows and the needy.

“This year, the foundation will award over $5,000 as a full scholarship to students at all levels. Also, thousands of notebooks, textbooks, school uniforms and stationaries will be donated to various schools in Nigeria.”

In furtherance of this initiative, a team from the foundation had earlier visited some public and private schools in Lagos and Ogun states, where educational materials were presented to indigent students.

Also, the foundation recently gave full scholarship to the overall best student of Senior Secondary School, Surulere, Madu Chike. The scholarship covers senior secondary and university education.

Tejuosho said he is inspired to initiate the foundation based on his field experience abroad, where he worked in various areas, including healthcare, behavioural science and community health.
