Great eloqence by Mr Okafor. But the question remains— Are we not investing too much on a single individual ? This must be a first. A democrracy that believes that a much revered , aging dictator can wave a magic wand and arrest our endemic problems. We are expecting this man to fight corruption , end oil bunkering, tribalism , incompetence while fighting those later-day babarians in the northeast.—all without a supporting cast. That’s a tough ask !!! Even now signs of internal rift are begining to emerge in his own party.
What the country needs are strong , reliable and accountable institutions .. We need an uncompromising judiciary , a strong legislature that takes itself seriously , a journalistic ethos that frowns at brown bag journalism .
A personification of the
country’s political . economic even moral
destiny risks deflating the ego of our fragile
democracy. Even if Buhari delivers , what happens after him ? That is the question.
