FIDA honours Lagos ACP, Oluwatoyin Kazeem for combating GBV

The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Lagos State Chapter, has honoured Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Oluwatoyin Kazeem, with the Award of Professionalism and Excellence in recognition of her exceptional contributions to protection of vulnerable groups and justice delivery.

ACP Kazeem, the Officer-in-Charge of the Legal and Gender Section of the Lagos State Police Command, was presented with the award by executive members of FIDA at her office in GRA Ikeja, Lagos.

The honour underscores her unwavering commitment to the service of humanity, particularly her tireless efforts in tackling domestic violence and gender-based violence (GBV) across Lagos State.

The Gender unit of the Lagos State Police Command arrested 114 persons for defilement and 24 persons for sexual assault by penetration between January 1, 2025 to December 1, 2025.
 
Since assuming office, ACP Kazeem, has been commended for leading wars against gender-based violence and handling cases without compromise.

Renowned for her diligence and professionalism, ACP Kazeem has played a pivotal role in coordinating strategic responses to GBV cases, strengthening institutional mechanisms, and ensuring that offenders are thoroughly investigated and prosecuted. Her leadership has driven impactful sensitization and public awareness campaigns, helping to educate communities and empower victims to seek justice. Her dedication continues to set a high standard in the ongoing fight against domestic and gender-based violence, making her a deserving recipient of the legal honour.

FIDA lauded her compassionate yet firm approach, noting that her work has not only improved the handling of GBV cases but also reinforced public trust in the Police.

ACP Kazeem while receiving the award expressed delight. She promised that no stone will be left unturned in fight against gender-based-violence in Lagos State.

She said that the Lagos State Police Command has been providing necessary support to stamp out violence against women and others.
