A Christmas To Remember

‘Tis the season to be jolly. 

The holiday brings with it a number of things; great moments, happiness, family and most importantly fond memories. For us at Guardian Life, Christmas is a time to reflect on our journey, where we started and where we are at now. 

In celebration of the season of love, we spoke to some of our readers on their favourite Christmas memory and what the season means to them. 

Christmas to me is a time of joy and wonder, a time of reflection and gratitude, and a time to be with the ones I love. To me, it is a time to remember all the blessings of the year – the special moments, the good memories, and the love that we share. Christmas is a time for us to come together and celebrate our blessings and our relationships. It is a time to be thankful for all the good things in our lives, and to spread the joy of the season to others. Christmas is a time to be with family, friends, and loved ones, and to make new memories every year. Christmas is a time of joy, hope, and love, and I am so thankful for it.

My favourite Christmas memory has to be taking Christmas trips with my family as a child. I deeply enjoyed the journey to my hometown in Ibadan and the endless plantain chips we got on the way. Today, there’s almost no time to travel that far and coupled with insecurity, I’d rather not.

Christmas is my favourite time of the year because it’s a time to come together and celebrate the spirit of the season. From the twinkling lights and festive decorations to the joyous music, it’s a time to be surrounded by warmth and love. It’s a time to show our appreciation and love to our friends and family and to count our blessings. It’s a time to reflect on the true meaning of Christmas and to treasure the special moments with those we love. Christmas is truly a magical time, and it fills my heart with joy and happiness.

We always threw a big Christmas party every year as a child. And it was my favourite because my cousins from all over would return and we’d party all through the holiday. Plus I always got new shoes and clothes so this memory definitely makes my top 10 Christmas memory. – Achebe Ebuka

Christmas is my favourite time of the year because it reminds me of the joy and warmth that comes with being surrounded by family and friends. I love the feeling of anticipation and excitement as the days countdown to Christmas morning. I love decorating the tree, putting up twinkly lights, and sharing festive meals with my loved ones. It’s a time to take a moment to reflect on the year that has passed and to look forward to a new one ahead. Most of all, it’s a reminder of the most important things in life: love, hope, and togetherness. Christmas brings a special kind of magic that no other time of the year can create. That’s why it’s my favourite time of the year.

As I look back on my favourite Christmas memory, I feel an immense wave of emotion wash over me. I remember the warmth of being surrounded by family and friends, the feeling of joy as we all gathered around the Christmas tree, and the comforting smell of jollof rice being cooked on firewood outside. I especially remember the excitement of opening our presents and the special festive feeling that filled the room. It was truly a magical time, and I will cherish it forever. Christmas is my favourite time of the year because it’s a magical time filled with family, joy, and love. It’s a time when we get to come together and share in the spirit of the season. The twinkling lights, festive decorations, and cheerful music fill me with so much happiness and warmth. It’s a time to express gratitude for all the blessings in our lives and to show our love and appreciation for one another. Christmas is a magical time that I look forward to all year long. My favourite Christmas memory is when I was a kid and I was so excited to open up my presents on Christmas morning. The anticipation of not knowing what was inside each gift was so thrilling and the feeling of joy that came over me when I saw what I had received was truly magical. Every Christmas since then, I still get that same feeling of excitement and happiness that I felt all those years ago. My favourite Christmas memory as a  child growing up in Nigeria is the time I spent with my family and friends gathered, singing and praising the Lord for His goodness. The laughter, love, and joy that filled the air was something I’ll never forget. I also cherish the memories of us preparing special traditional dishes and exchanging them with our neighbours. Christmas has always been a special time of year for me. As a child, I have so many fond memories of the holiday season. One of my favourite memories is of decorating the Christmas tree with my family. There was something so magical about the twinkling lights and the festive decorations that filled the room with warmth and joy. The delicious smell of the fried rice my mom prepared every Christmas and the sound of Christmas carols playing in the background made it extra special. Most importantly I always looked forward to coming back to Nigeria for the holidays, and it fills my heart with so much happiness to think back on those special memories. – Ayo Adeboye

Christmas is so special to me because it’s a time when I can be surrounded by the people I love most and create lasting memories together.
