Actress Lupita Nyong’o To Lead Berlin Film Festival As Chief Jury
Oscar Winning Actress Lupita Nyong’o, also known for her role in the film “12 Years a Slave,” is set to take center stage as the president of the Jury at the Berlin International Film Festival in February 2024.
Expressing her gratitude, Nyong’o stated, “I am deeply honored to serve as the President of the International Jury of the Berlin International Film Festival.” She looks forward to celebrating and acknowledging the exceptional work of filmmakers from around the world.
Berlinale directors Mariëtte Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian shared their perspectives on Nyong’o’s selection. Rissenbeek highlighted Nyong’o’s versatility in embracing diverse projects and audiences, recognizing her consistent and recognizable portrayal of characters.
For those unfamiliar with her impressive accolades, Nyong’o not only clinched the coveted Oscar for her role in “12 Years A Slave” but also received accolades such as the Screen Actors Guild Award, Critics’ Choice Award, Independent Spirit Award, and the NAACP Image Award.
In addition to her acting prowess, Nyong’o is set to grace the screen in the upcoming horror franchise spin-off series, “A Quiet Place: Day One.” Beyond her on-screen contributions, she has also taken on the role of executive producer for the Sudanese movie “Goodbye Julia,” directed by Mohamed Kordofani.
The actress who have since shaken up her relationship woes over time, has also confirmed her new love life with Joshua Jackson leading to rumour between the pair, despite this her career continues to rise as Berlin anticipates her early next year.
