Lagos, the entertainment capital of Nigeria recently came under heavy sound of music, as notable Nigerian artistes stormed the Agege Stadium for a live music concert tagged Afro And The Beats Music & Arts Festival.

Living up to its billing as the most talked about event during yuletide, DANCE NA DE MAIN THING, a popular dance crew set the tone for the evening with a performance that was characterised by the features of FESTAS 77 choreographies. Cheers and rounds of applause rented the air, as the talented dance crew treated guests to different dance routines that got many swinging to the rhythm.

The performance by DANCE NA DE MAIN THING heralded the unveiling of the tech-aided remodeled Benin Ivory Mask, a piece of art that was the symbol of FESTAC 77. Benin Ivory is a miniature sculptural portrait in ivory of Idia, the first Iyoba of the 16th century Benin Empire.

According to the organisers “The adaptation of Benin bronze, an iconic asset, is to further drive the authenticity of the brand in telling the African story of yesterday, today and tomorrow.”

Afro And The Beats Music & Arts Festival recorded another feat by becoming the most widely covered TV event during the yuletide. SoundCity TV was busy broadcasting the footages of the festival to over 55 African countries on Boxing Day for 2 hours, while HIP TV provided live coverage of the event to viewers at home on its DStv platform.

Some A-List artistes who gave their stellar performances at the inaugural edition of the festival include the rave-making musician- Portable, Agege-born afro singer superstar- Small Doctor, BNXN (Buju), African Michael Jackson- Obesere, Candy Bleaks, DJ Big N and the host, MC Bash the Cash.

Obesere and his band put up some superlative performances most party goers have not seen in a long time. Guests enjoyed the performance that lasted for 1 hour 30 minutes, as they danced sensationally to the beats and tunes of the afro juju exponent.

Singer BNXN (Buju) took the festival to another level when he mounted the stage and opened with the rendition of some of his popular tunes to the admiration of the excited crowd. But the crowd went wild when he sang ‘Outside’ and his other popular hits.

Just as the dust raised by BNXN was about settling, Agege-born superstar, Small Doctor, stormed the stage to the excitement and jubilation of his fans. Of course, home advantage worked for him. He took off from where BNXN let off and continued to entertain as the festival crowd chanted Afro And The Beats.

Candy Bleakz, the only female artiste to perform at the 2022 festival, dished out lovely tunes to the admiration of festival goers. But the introduction of Portable sent the crowd wild in excitement. The street star took his craft to the next level when he settled his rift with Small Doctor on the stage.

Speaking to the possibility of hosting the festival soon, the curator of the festival, Dr. Felix King stated that Afro And The Beats Music & Arts was created as a festival that will be hosted twice in a year. ” It will be hosted every Christmas and Easter festive holiday,” he assured fans.

Brands that have partnered with the festival are Desperado, Zagg energy drink, Goldberg and Ace bitters. The festival is supported by Peak Yoghurt and Nestle Water while media partners include DStv, GOtv, SoundCity, ONTV, HipTV and LASAA. Afro And The Beats Music & Arts Festival is the creation of Oracle Experience, a leading experience company in Africa.
