After a successful staging of the Dublin, Ireland leg of the foremost travelling festival—Nollywood Travel Film Festival (NTFF), Founder and Festival Director Mykel Parish Ajaere and his team at NTFF have announced that the festival is heading to Amsterdam and Berlin next. The NTFF at Ireland opened at the Sugar Club in Dublin, Ireland last Saturday, with the screening of Paul Papel Apel award winning film Eagle Wings and Moses Iwang’s critically acclaimed film Bad Comment.

The festival also featured the screening of Oba Kosi Nwoba’s short film Umoja. There was also a city tour, a comedy night and award and a special Independence Day hosting of the NTFF team by the Nigerian Ambassador to Ireland Mrs. Ijeoma Chinonyerem Obiezu.

Ajaere was lavish with thanks to the Nigerian Ambassador to Ireland for hosting the festival and the team.

“Her Excellency Mrs Ijeoma Obiezu was super as host of the festival. And because our festival coincided with Nigeria’s independence anniversary, we were hosted at her residence in Dublin. Now that we are done with Dublin, we are going next to Amsterdam and Berlin. It will be different. It will be memorable. Nollywood is coming,’’ Ajaere enthused.

Before the NTFF trained moved to Ireland, the festival held its first 2022 edition in the city of Athens, Greece in May. It featured the screening of some of Nigeria’s critically acclaimed movies including Moses Iwang’s Lockdown, Bolanle Austen-Peters Collision Course, Kunle Afolayan’s award winning feature Citation and Paul Apel Papel’s award winning feature Eagle Wings. The festival in Greece was held in partnership and with the support of the Nigerian Embassy in Greece and some Nollywood Guild and Association including the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) and the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN).

Ajaere has always maintained that the festival aims at sharing the Nollywood journey with the world whilst also providing the platform to change the African narrative through film and to foster relationships with developed countries.

Founded in 2016, the NTFF is reputed as Nigeria’s biggest and foremost travel film festival. It hosts screenings of Nollywood films in cities around the world and it has so far been held in cities including, Berlin, New York, Glasgow, Helsinki, Peru, Toronto and Amsterdam.
