Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr, believes she inspires younger girls, with her Grammy nomination, and also explains her rise in the music industry.

Reflecting on her Grammy nomination, Ayra expressed her excitement, stating, “It will mean everything to me. I’m the youngest, I’m a girl, you don’t see it. This is a new world now, people are going to watch it. They’re going to see me win, they’re going to be inspired, they’re going to know that they can do anything.”
Ayra, who began her musical journey by posting covers online after university, highlighted the importance of being authentic in the industry. She shared, “I got here being authentically myself. Anytime I start to feel some type of pressure, I’m just like no, I got here being myself, I’m going to continue being myself.”
Proudly embracing her African roots, Ayra aims to be a role model for young girls, stating, “I want to be a black pop star from Africa. I want younger girls to be so inspired by me, I’m going to be so undeniably proud of my culture and put it in my music.”
Ayra’s diverse musical genres include Afrobeats, R&B, and Pop, showcasing her versatility. She explained the inspiration behind her stage name ‘Ayra Starr’ and expressed gratitude for the support that led her to sign with Don Jazzy.
