Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has named Wizkid, Tiwa Savage and Rema as the three Afrobeats artistes she personally rates the most.
She made this known during a recent interview with HOT 97, where she was asked to mention her personal “big three” in Afrobeats.
In her response, she mentioned Tiwa Savage first, before naming Wizkid and Rema.
“My big three, I would say Tiwa Savage obviously, Wiz and Rema,” she said. “My solid big three.”
Her comment adds to the long-running conversation around Afrobeats’ so-called “big three”, a label many fans often reserve for Wizkid, Davido and Burna Boy.
Over the years, the debate has remained a major talking point among fans of the genre. While some people see it as a way to rank influence and success, others believe it ignores the many other artistes shaping Afrobeats.
Tiwa Savage also spoke on the issue in September 2025, saying the genre is too wide to be reduced to only three names.
“Not ‘f*ck them’ but the narrative of the big three. F that narrative, because this is a continent with so many artistes, and we keep reducing it to just three every time,” she said.
“We have Yemi Alade, Flavour, Asake, Tems, Rema, why are they not included in the top three?”
She added that the narrative continues mainly because the artistes often mentioned have very active supporters.
“They have a very really strong fan base. Their fan bases are active, I guess that’s why,” she added.
