Nigerian reality TV star and entrepreneur Anita Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has officially entered the Guinness World Records after breaking two global titles in the beauty category.
The 29-year-old achieved the most cosmetic makeovers in eight hours, completing 82, and the most cosmetic makeovers in 24 hours, with a total of 144.
The marathon took place on October 11, 2025, at the John Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History in Lagos.
According to Guinness World Records, Tacha spent the day helping women feel beautiful while enduring a heavy rainstorm and multiple power outages that nearly disrupted the event. Her makeup station, set up behind a glass wall, drew crowds of fans and passersby who cheered her on as she worked through the challenge.
Speaking after her recognition, Tacha said she was motivated by her passion for creativity and her belief in the power of African women.
She said, “The idea of daring to be different drove me. Makeup has always been my safe space, it is how I express myself. From childhood, I was fascinated by beauty and colours. I would play around with mascara, eyeliners, and lip glosses even when my mother, a devoted church worker, did not approve. She would throw my products away and I would save up to buy them again. That pattern taught me persistence to keep fighting for what I love.”
She explained that her inspiration for the challenge came from a desire to show that Nigerian women can achieve anything they set their minds to. “This record was born from resilience and the courage to stand out. I wanted to show that creativity is powerful and that African women deserve global recognition,” she added.
Tacha’s record-breaking performance surpassed the previous title holder, Mary Yongai of Sierra Leone, who had completed 111 makeovers. Each of Tacha’s 144 makeovers included foundation, concealer, blush, eyeshadow, mascara, lip liner, gloss, finishing powder, and eyebrow shaping.
The television personality also revealed that the challenge was filled with setbacks.
She said, “We faced a nine-hour storm that disrupted everything. The rain poured so heavily that our screens, monitors, and branding fell apart. The wind scattered the setup, and we had to rebuild the venue from scratch during the event. We also had several power outages. The lights went off three or four times, but I refused to stop. My team turned on their phone flashlights, and I kept doing makeovers in the dark.”
After receiving confirmation from Guinness World Records, Tacha said she was emotional and proud. “It was not just about setting a record, it was about rewriting the narrative that African women can lead, create, and inspire at a global level,” she said.
She appreciated her team, including project manager Seun Oluyemi Anthony, known as Otunba, for coordinating logistics and helping recruit models.
Earlier, Guardian Life reported that Tacha completed her 24-hour Guinness World Record attempt at exactly 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025. She performed makeovers on 145 models, including influencers Venita Akpofure, Mitchy, and content creators Wanni and Handi.
The star said her achievement represents “every girl child who has ever dared to start over, every creative who has ever been doubted, and every dreamer who believes that greatness can come from anywhere.”
