Bhad Bhabie Accused Of Darkening Her Skin To Look Black
Rapper Danielle Bregoli better known as Bhad Bhabie has been accused by fans of “blackfishing.”
The accusations started when the 17-year-old posted a video of herself on social media with visibly darker skin.
Fans soon began to criticise her although it is unclear if she was using a filter or got a new tan or both. All everyone knew was that she looks different.
Bhad Bhabie soon started trending on Twitter as heated debates started with arguments about whether she is darkening her skin or not.
In her reaction to the accusations, she reposted a photo that joked about her “transformation into a light skinned black woman is almost complete,” then she simply said, “Aww I’m trending, thank you.”
The “Gucci Flip Flops” rapper later took to her IG with a follow-up, writing,
“Millions of people sick, thousands dying every day and y’all worried about me getting my makeup done for a photoshoot? I’m usually the wild one but y’all need to chill and focus on what’s important right now.”
This isn’t the first time Bhad Bhabie has been accused of blackfishing and cultural appropriation, though. Bhad Bhabie has been pulled up on wearing box braids in the past – but she has never apologised for it.
“You cannot act a color,” she said at the time. “Do not tell me I’m acting black because I’m not. I’m acting urban, or whatever you want to call it. I don’t even have a name for it, I call it, ‘me.’ How I act is me. I get braids all the time, you can’t tell me I’m acting black because I braid my hair. That makes no sense whatsoever.”
