The Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 2 has issued a summons for five individuals over allegations of criminal defamation against gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her husband, Pastor Blessed Uzochikwa.
In the suit, Pastor Uzochikwa accused the defendants of spreading injurious falsehoods and engaging in cyberstalking.
The court document, dated April 3, 2024, mandates the appearance of the accused to respond to the charges brought against them.
The controversy began when a photo of the couple’s son was posted on social media, leading to viral allegations questioning the child’s paternity.
The defendants are alleged to have insinuated that another gospel singer, Nathaniel Bassey, was the father of the child, a claim that has since gone viral online.
