Israel Afeare, popularly known as Israel DMW and a close associate of Nigerian music star Davido, has announced the death of his father, describing the loss as a painful moment for the family.

According to him, his father, Mr Afeare Eric, a retired officer of the Nigeria Police Force, died at the age of 71.

Israel disclosed that his father, who retired as a Deputy Superintendent of Police, died on March 2 after a brief illness at a hospital in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

In a tribute, he described the late police officer as a strong figure in the family who played a significant role in shaping the lives of his children.

“It is sad losing my father at this time. We still need him with us, but God knows better,” he said.

Israel said his father served as a pillar of strength to the family and helped maintain unity among its members.

“He was my pillar of strength, and he was instrumental in making the family an indivisible unit,” he added.

He also praised the late officer’s work ethic during his years in service, noting that his commitment to duty influenced the values held by his children.

The family said burial arrangements will be announced in due course.

The late Afeare Eric is survived by two wives and eight children.
