Nigerian music star, Davido like many other Nigerians has reacted to the viral news of the arrest of fellow singer, Naira Marley by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Naira Marley whose real name is Afeez Fashola was arrested by EFCC in the early hours of today for questioning in Lagos.

DMW boss, Davido in his reaction to the arrest took to Instagram and declared his support for the fast-rising artist. He shared a picture of the “Am I a Yahoo Boy?” singer with the caption;

“#MARLIAN !! Freee bro!!!! Nothing spoil!! I got u!!!”

Shortly after the news of the arrest of Naira Marley went viral, Tony Orilade, the spokesperson of the confirmed his arrest and said,

“Yes, he is with us. He’s not the only person; he had some other persons also arrested alongside (him). They were arrested in relation to advance fee fraud — Internet-related cases and all of that. Give me a little time and I will get you the details.”

Also reacting to the news of his arrest, CSP Dolapo Badmus took to social media and appeared to throw shade when she wrote,

“The only authentic NAIRA I know is Nigeria’s legal tender. Any other naira attached to something is a counterfeit!”

The arrest of Naira Marley is coming on the heels of him defending the actions of Yahoo boys on his Instagram. In one of his posts, he had said that Yahoo boys are not criminals because anyone who understands the history of slavery will know they are not doing anything wrong.

Naira Marley’s open support for Yahoo boys started when he slammed Nigerian songstress, Simi for bashing Yahoo boys saying they bring shame to Nigeria and should stop listening to the music of Nigerian artists.
