Derek Hough revealed that he tested positive for COVID-19 one day after appearing as a judge on the Dancing With The Stars ballroom on Monday night.

The 36-year old professional dancer shared the news on Instagram on Tuesday, revealing that his Las Vegas shows would be postponed this week.

“Even though I’ve been fully vaccinated, I’ve just been diagnosed with a breakthrough case of COVID and just found out,” Hough shared in an Instagram video.

“I feel strong, but I’m currently taking advice from medical professionals, doing everything I can to get better as fast as I can.”

However, Hough, who is in quarantine, did not clarify if fans will see him at the “Dancing With the Stars” finale next week.

In October, Derek Hough also had a COVID-19 scare and was forced to sit out of the dancing competition series after he was potentially exposed.

Page Six reports that they were informed that Hough was healthy and fine and that his absence was solely out of an abundance of caution, as safety is the No. 1 priority for cast and crew on set.

Hough’s diagnosis raises questions about his presence for the “Dancing With the Stars” season finale next Monday, where he’s to serve as a judge alongside Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli.

CDC guidelines state that fully vaccinated people who test positive for COVID-19 are to “isolate at home for 10 days”, jeopardizing Hough’s finale participation.

However, this does not mark the end as a virtual appearance may be in the cards for Hough.

Earlier in the season, pro dancer Cheryl Burke and her celebrity partner, Cody Rigsby, tested positive for COVID-19; however, they performed live from their separate homes to avoid missing their performance.

In a statement to Page Six and other reporters during a post-show presser, Burke, 37, and Rigsby, 34, reacted to their at-home performance.

“It wasn’t under the perfect circumstances, but I still had so much fun doing this,” the Peloton instructor said. “It was really a dream come true.”
