As the days grow colder, the urge to wear sweatpants and sweatshirts to keep you warm grows even stronger.

But sweatpants don’t exactly fit into the fashion catalogue for corporate outfits; they’re viewed as casual clothing items and are preferably kept away from fancy outings and the workplace.

However, that’s not to say there aren’t ways to work around this. These are five stylish ways to dress up your sweatpants:

  • Choose a fitted pair

Baggy sweatpants prioritise comfort and are more difficult to style up, which is why there are considered casual wear. To take your sweatpants up a notch, consider opting for fitted sweatpants, as they are much more easier to dress up for the workplace.

  • Dark colours:

Colours play a significant role in choosing work outfits. When you think about sweatpants, your mind probably goes to the colour grey first. However, when dressing up sweatpants, your best bet is to opt for darker colours like black, dark grey, navy or even khaki. This allows them to bear a striking resemblance to other work pants and provides for a much better outcome.

  • The right top:

Pair your sweatpants with a blazer or coat to make it more put together. Instead of a sweatshirt, keep warm with a leather or denim jacket. A personal choice is a classic blazer.

  • The right shoes:

Shoes are ever so important when dressing up outfits. Instead of picking out your favourite pair of sneakers, choose a pair of heels instead. Pumps and other heeled shoes transform your look from casual athleisure wear to a proper work outfit.

  • Pull it all together:

The final touches would improve your outfit. A properly styled hair and work-friendly accessories add the much-needed seriousness your work outfit needs.
