The daughter of actor and former wrestler Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Simone Johnson has started training to become a WWE wrestler.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) officially announced in a press release issued on Monday that Simone Johnson, has begun her training at the company’s performance centre in Orlando, Florida.

Simone said she’s very excited to pursue her career in wrestling and wished to keep her family’s legacy going on.

“It means the world to me,” Johnson said, as part of the press release. “To know that my family has such a personal connection to wrestling is really special to me and I feel grateful to have the opportunity, not only to wrestle but to carry on that legacy.”

Simone, 18, would become a fourth-generation pro wrestler, as she follows in the footsteps of her wrestler-turned-actor dad, her grandfather Rocky Johnson and her great-grandfather Peter Maivia.

Simone also celebrated the start of her training with an excited snapshot, which she shared to Instagram on Monday.

“To the little girl who fell in love with wrestling & said ‘this will be my life one day’, this is for you,” she wrote. “I’m humbled, grateful & ready to work. Let’s do this.”

The Rock took to his Instagram page to congratulate his daughter:

“Dreams ain’t just for dreamers,” Rock wrote. “Congrats to my #1 born, Simone Johnson on officially signing her wrestling contract with @wwe @wwenxt and on her way to becoming the first-ever 4th generation WWE athlete. Carry our family name proudly, but your road will always be yours to create, earn & own. So proud. Live your dream. Let’s work. #humblehungry #hardestworkersintheroom #4thgeneration”
