When Luxembourg actress Vicky Krieps was sent some text for an audition, she had no idea it was for a film by Paul Thomas Anderson.
Instead, she believed it was for a student film in London. She read the text on her phone on a bus and then went home and recorded a tape for the audition which she then sent in.
Her agent called her up afterwards in a giddy mood telling her the director was very happy with her and wanted to talk. It was only then that she realised it was the acclaimed director.
Phantom Thread goes on release in the US on December 25.
