All is set for the return of the Lagos International Film Festival dubbed LIFF 2021. Founded in 2008 by notable Filmpreneur, Madu Chikwendu, as a festival that demonstrate a concern to improve the world through movies, LIFF went off the radar for a few edition, but it is returning to Lagos now and will hold between December 9 to 12.

Last week, organiser of LIFF announced that Zimbabwe born Filmmaker and actor who starred in the international production, Soweto, filmed in the 1980’s in Jos, Plateau State, will preside over the jury of the 2021 Lagos International Film Festival (LIFF). The festival is scheduled to hold at the National Film Corporation, Lagos Office, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Founder and President of LIFF Madu Chikwendu who announced Chigorimbo’s appointment stated that LIFF was deeply honoured that Mr.Chigorimbo has accepted to preside over the jury.

According to the Filmpreneur, “both Mr.Stephen Chigorimbo and LIFF share a vision to use cinema as a tool to lift Africa out of poverty and fight neocolonialism.”

A celebrated Pan Africanist, Chigorimbo has produced, directed and or starred in dozens of international production. This edition of LIFF will feature film screenings, panel discussions and the formal launch of Matthew Simpa’s book on the history of film in Nigeria From Reversal Filmmaking To God’s Bedroom and Back: Untold Story of the Nollywood Revolution. The book will be launched on December 11, as part of LIFF.
