Oscars 2018 Update: 10 Contenders Left In The Best Visual Effects Category
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences released its shortlist for the Best Visual Effects category at the 90th Oscars.
The list has been cut down to 10 movies that span across a number of diverse genres. Fan favourites like Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Blade Runner 2049, and The Shape Of Water stand strong on the list while other-worldly fantasy movies like Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 are a welcome addition.
Members of the academy visual effects branch will meet on January 6th for the final screening of the movies and the final nominees will be announced on the 23rd of January.

- Dunkirk
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
- Kong: Skull Island
- Okja
- The Shape of Water
- Star Wars: The Last Jedi
