Nigerians are still heading to the cinemas in large numbers, and “Sinners” isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
According to figures posted by the Nigeria Box Office on Monday via their X page, the hit movie “Sinners” raked in ₦71.9 million over the weekend (May 9–11), taking its total earnings to ₦567.4 million, four weeks straight at the top.
Not far behind is “Ori: The Rebirth”, which continues to enjoy strong word-of-mouth. In just its second week, it pulled in ₦63.2 million, pushing its overall earnings to ₦197.2 million.
“Thunderbolts” is also holding its ground. After debuting last weekend, it brought in another ₦41.2 million, now sitting at ₦142.2 million in total.
For moviegoers looking for something fresh, “Shadow Force” entered the chart with ₦11.6 million, while “Owambe Thieves”, already in its fourth week matched same figure, bringing its total to ₦180.3 million.
“Makemation”, an animated feature that’s been entertaining families, rounded out the top six with ₦8 million. It has now made ₦82.9 million overall.
The numbers show that despite streaming apps and rising ticket prices, Nigerians are still choosing popcorn and the big screen, especially when the stories hit close to home.
