BBQ & Cravings Feast

The best restaurants in Lagos are hidden and barely spoken about and that is the case for the neon-lights cabin hidden beside the Germaine Autocenter in Lekki.  If you’re looking for a quick spot to hang out while you wait out the traffic or just a nice place to eat on a budget? Then BBQ & Cravings is the place for you to drop by. They offer a variety of meals, which are divided into barbecue, wings, burgers, hot dogs, platters, breakfast options and sides.

The Old Country Burger

This is their signature burger and it contains sunny side up eggs, beef and half sausages. It’s quite filling and comes with a side of potato salad, coleslaw and I decided to try the signature cravings rice. It was an interesting mix having rice with the rest of the meal.  The burger can be a mouthful and usually has a kick of black pepper, which I am not a big fan of. The eggs, beef and sausage combination is the ideal protein fix and is quite different from the kind of burger you get in other establishments. The cravings rice was just the right amount of spice, which was great because it didn’t have to compete with the taste of the ingredients of the burger, pork ribs and chicken wings, which I tried with the rice and is simply amazing.

This platter was everything! I also decided to try pork for the first time and I was impressed. The platter consists of two portions of anything you want with from the barbecue menu and I went with chicken wings and pork ribs, which also came with a side of boardwalk fries, potatoe salad, coleslaw and kidney beans. Starting with the pork ribs which was well done and spices that complemented the pork. I hear that pork has a poignant taste and if not properly prepared can be a turn off. In my case it wasn’t, I liked it but found some part of the pork hard to eat because it was too soft. For the chicken wings I asked that it be extra spicy and they delivered on that kick. The boardwalk fries were crisp and I am a firm lover of their colesaw but not so much when it comes to the potatoe salad, my advice is that you use the dipping for the fries to eat the potato salad. I find the kidney beans a little too tasty for beans, so I barely touched it.

Visiting BBQ & Cravings is an ideal choice for filling meals depending on your selection. It is also quite a feast because they are pretty generous with their servings and most important of all is the meals are  affordable, which means you will get your money’s worth without breaking the bank. The meals also came with a drink of your choice. The only downside to the experience was the lack of a restroom within the premises.
