Review: Would You Fancy Having Brunch At Delis Café?
It was a state of confusion for me when I looked for a brunch spot on a Tuesday morning. Although I had run a poll on my Instagram page, I headed towards Delis Café on 1291 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island based on a recommendation. The grocery downstairs is more popular as that is what pops up on Google Maps.
When I arrived, I knew I would love having brunch here from the cute face on the top floor overlooking the street. The walkway decorated with potted flowers did not prepare me for the minimalistic interior of Delis Café. A waitress took my order once I sat. As I looked around, I noticed that this was the spot for members of the upper class to have meetings before noon.
Because I wanted something sweet for breakfast, I ordered the SWEET Breakfast plate which did not disappoint. The meal comprises waffles, fresh berries, maple syrup and ice cream. I also ordered The Americano. In hindsight, I should have gotten one of the fresh juices offered to complement my meal but my wallet spoke and I listened.
My meal arrived in decent time as I worked out of the café, the waffle was huge and the berries little. The syrup was the right amount I needed to soak my waffle. Although the menu did not say I would get a cup of ice cream, either way, it was a welcome addition.
The waffles were hard on the outside and soft on the inside and tasted perfect with the syrup and ice cream on it. However, it took my coffee a while to arrive; I had to remind the waitress who took my order right there and then. This was the only downside to having brunch at Delis Café.
Will I be heading back to Delis Café! Definitely! This space might become my new meeting spot and, if you see me, don’t be shy to say hello!
