Supermodel Gisele Bundchen and Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio used to be everyone’s favourite couple in the early 2000s until their famous split in 2005.

Bundchen in a recent interview with Porter magazine has now given more insight into what actually led to the breakup.

According to the model, she had to make a lot of changes in her life in 20115 when she started having increasingly intense panic attacks, DiCaprio was one of the many things she had to say goodbye to as she began a new chapter in her life.

She said,

“When I was going through my panic attacks, I didn’t even feel like I could share with anyone. I thought maybe I don’t have the right, everybody is going through so many difficult things in the world, and I don’t have the right to feel this way. So I’d suppress it, and the more I suppressed it, the bigger it became.”

She also dished that this led to her contemplating suicide before she dealt with her anxiety by altering her diet, cutting out caffeine, cigarettes and alcohol and going on a series of retreats. With those changes came new clarity about her relationship with DiCaprio.

Porter magazine surfaced a previously-unreported quote about DiCaprio from Bundchen’s 2018 book, “Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life,” a quote which just started getting serious pickup online today.

“No longer numbing myself with smoking, drinking and too much work, I was becoming more and more aware of things that I’d chosen not to look at,” wrote Bundchen. “Was I alone in wanting to do some serious soul-searching while he stayed the same? In the end, unfortunately, the answer was yes.”

In the Porter preview of their upcoming cover story, they also included Bundchen’s thoughts on the #MeToo movement and how she can look at it in a positive light.

“This [#MeToo] movement has united women. It’s a beautiful thing. We are stronger when we are together,” she told the publication. “It makes me wonder why we weren’t being like this before.”

It would be recalled that following her split from the Oscar-award winning DiCaprio, Bundchen would later find love with Tom Brady, with whom she shares son Benjamin and daughter Vivian. They also co-parent Brady’s son Jack, his child with Bridget Moynahan.
