I Had A Crush On 2Baba – Mercy Aigbe
Popular Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has revealed that she used to have a crush on superstar musician Innocent Idibia popularly known as 2Baba.
Aigbe who is a mother of two made this known while appearing as a guest on comedian Gbenga Adeyinka’s Instagram Live chat.
Her revelation came after Adeyinka played 2Baba’s classic hit song “African Queen” and a beaming Aigbe revealed her schoolgirl-like crush on the singer.
With a huge smile on her face, the fashionable star said:
“Don’t tell anybody o. For a very long time, I had a crush on 2baba.”
2Baba isn’t the only star that Aigbe had eyes on as she also disclosed that she looked up to veteran actresses like Liz Benson and Sola Sobowale before she started acting. On this, she said:
“Coming into the industry, there were two people I admired a lot— Liz Benson and Sola Sobowale. Liz Benson was just so beautiful and she still is. I absolutely loved her back then. I also loved the way Sola Sobowale interpreted her roles. She inspires me whenever I see her on a movie set.”
Aigbe is best known for her roles in indigenous Yoruba movies. She joined the film industry fully in 2006 and founded “Mercy Aigbe Gentry School of Drama” in 2016.
2Baba was quite the ladies man in his younger years and was dubbed “Father of Many Nations” because of having children from multiple baby mamas.
Prior to July 2014, 2Baba went by the stage name 2Face Idibia and is credit sith several hit songs in the African music space. He explained that the name 2Face was his way of separating his personal life from his business life.
He is considered an inspiration and role model by many younger artists in the music industry.
2Baba is married to actress Annie Macaulay-Idibia. The lovebirds tied the knot on the 2nd of May 2012. They have two girls together while 2Baba is father to 7 kids; 5 kids from 2 previous relationships.
