“Jerusalema” Is The Most Shazamed Song In The World
“Jerusalema” a disco-house song by South African DJ and record producer Master KG is now the most shazamed song in the world.
Shazam, an Apple Inc. application used to identify music, movies, advertising, and television shows, on Tuesday announced that the song which features South African vocalist Nomcebo is the most searched song on its app.
The upbeat gospel-influenced house song was initially released on 29 November 2019 after it garnered positive response online. The music video was released on 21 December. “Jerusalema” was later included on Master KG’s second album of the same title, released in January 2020.
The song was eventually released on streaming services on 10 July 2020 after it went viral during mid-2020, garnering international reaction due to the #JerusalemaChallenge. The #JerusalemaChallenge spawned dance videos from many countries, including Italy, Spain, France, Jamaica and Canada.
A remix featuring Nigerian singer Burna Boy was released on 19 June 2020, propelling the song onto the US Billboard charts.
