This week saw several shocking incidents. Fans were taken by surprise across the world in all important spheres of life. With personalities making huge steps in politics, football, music, here is a list of what went down this week:

Ronaldo rape?!

Cristiano Ronaldo has found himself in a rape case. According to the allegations reported in German paper Der Spiegel, the football star raped Kathryn Mayorga, a model turned teacher at the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on the 13th of June 2009. She said he had invited her and her friend to the penthouse suite ‘to enjoy the view of the Las Vegas Strip’ and raped her in the bathroom. However, he has described the news as “fake news” while his lawyers have said they will sue the paper Spiegel for reporting a “blatantly illegal” story.

Old chip on the block

Chris Okotie

In the spirit of the 2019 presidential elections, four-time candidate Reverend Chris Okotie has announced that he is ready to take on the number one position as the president of Nigeria. The senior pastor of Household of God church and FRESH party’s candidate disclosing his interest said: “I have referred to myself as a consensus remedial facilitator because of the existential threats that we have now.” Whatever your thoughts are, there is one thing we can now confirm and sing in the election spirit, “Nigerian race, him no go tire until he reaches his goal”.

Kanye West in Africa?

Kanye West has said he has a great explanation on why his album did not drop on Saturday, the 29th of September. He claims the reason for the delay in the release of the album which had generated so much attention is because he is heading to Africa to do some recording. He said he will be in Africa for a few weeks because he wants to tap into the energy here. And what side of the African continent? Thing is, we don’t know either, but we hope it is West. If not, there had better be an explanation for his surname.

Facebook sex scandal

Facebook has found itself in another lawsuit after a woman, Jane Doe, in Texas claimed she was raped, beaten and sex trafficked at 15 by a pimp who posed as a Facebook “friend”. Doe alleges that the social network’s executives knew minors were being lured into the sex trade on their platform. The lawsuit says Facebook did not do enough to verify the user’s identity, and that they never warned her that sex traffickers were operating on the social media network. Her suit states she was “friended” on Facebook in 2012 by a user who knew several of her real-life friends.

A New Wolf Leads The Pack

Winter is coming and all wolves must stick to the pack because the lone wolf…! While fans are awaiting the release of Game of Thrones, it seems Nigeria’s APC is playing out what seems to be a spin-off of the show. A day after Nigeria’s Independence celebration, 2 October 2018 marked an eventful day for All Progressive Congress (APC) as they decided who will fly their banner in Lagos state 2019 gubernatorial elections. The incumbent Lagos state governor, Akinwunmi Ambode contested amid rumours of a fallout with his ‘mentor’ and loyalists quickly aligned to the newly anointed leader, Sanwo-Olu.
