Kanye West seems to be annoyed by the Yeezy Day celebration, a day set aside each year on August 2 to honour the Adidas Yeezy clothing line.

West expressed his dissatisfaction with Yeezy Day in a direct message to the Complex Instagram account, writing that “Adidas made up the Yeezy Day idea without my agreement.” But it didn’t end there.

In addition, according to West, the company employed staff for the line—including the general manager of Yeezy—without his consent and re-released prior Adidas Yeezy styles and colours.

Since 2019, August 2 has been designated as Yeezy Day, with the main objective of highlighting the Adidas Yeezy collection.

West also discussed his ongoing collaborations with Gap and Balenciaga, claiming that Adidas slowed down the production of the casual sneakers he and Balenciaga’s creative director Demna Gvasalia designed for Gap despite the fact that the shoes did not violate his contract with the Three Stripes.

“My contract states I can do casual shoes,” the artist wrote.

West continued, “they didn’t have the capacity meanwhile Adidas was copying my slides and making their own version of the Yeezy Slides,” when he asked the company to make more pairs of his wildly successful Yeezy Slides.

At the end of the message, West stated that “Yeezy is 68% of adidas online sales.” He concluded, “God step in.”

Complex claims that West is referring to the Adilette 22 Slides, a pair of shoes he previously decried this year.
