Kanye West Spent $13.2 Million On His Failed Presidential Campaign
Kanye West reportedly spent a massive $13.2 million on his failed Presidential bid, including $12m of his own money according to a report by The Mirror.
The rapper announced last year that he would be officially running for President of the United States, and if these new figures are right, he spent around $200 on every vote he received.
The 43-year-old, whose wife Kim Kardashian filed for divorce last week, got off to a slow start in the race for the White House by failing to register in many States on time.
Also, his rally caused just as much of a headache when he came out with a string of controversial comments.
Most notably, he told the world that he and Kim had considered aborting their eldest daughter North, seven, for the first months of the pregnancy.
He later accused his wife of cheating, said he had been trying to divorce her for years, and lashed out at her family, comparing mum Kris Jenner to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
According to his final Federal Election Commission report, Kanye contributed almost $12.5m of his own money, while raising a little more than $2m from outside contributions to fund his Presidential bid.
He ended up barely qualifying for the ballot and earning only around 66,000 votes from people across the nation. Kanye launched his bid on July 4, last year, running under his Birthday Party.
It is said he’d raised $14.5m for his campaign and ended it with $1.3m left in the bank.
