Kayode Kasum’s Obara’M to headline NollywoodWeek Filmfest in Paris

The larger-than-life musical, Obara’M, by notable Nollywood director Kayode Kasum has been announced as the opening film of the 10th edition of the NollywoodWeek Film Festival taking place at Cinema l’Arlequin in Paris from May 11 to 14.

The larger-than-life musical, Obara’M, by notable Nollywood director Kayode Kasum has been announced as the opening film of the 10th edition of the NollywoodWeek Film Festival taking place at Cinema l’Arlequin in Paris from May 11 to 14.

Okada Media, the festival organiser also announced that the opening night would feature the premiere of the much-anticipated short film, Love Language, about the dynamics of a multi-ethnic Nigerian couple. This edition will feature an exciting line-up made up of World Premieres of feature films and short films, from Nigeria and the African Diaspora in the presence of esteemed filmmakers and actors.

NollywoodWeek Film Festival, which is sporting a new nickname, the NOW Film Festival, will showcase what is happening now on the African continent, especially in the popular Nigerian film industry (known colloquially as Nollywood) that has tripled in size over the last decade and has become the focus of many stakeholders in the film industry.

This year, nine feature films from Nigeria have made the official selection, three of which are World Premieres. The films will be accompanied by 17 short films and four special screenings.

This year too, festival goers will be able to take part in the various Masterclasses, panel discussions, interact with filmmakers and actors, and attend pitching sessions and Afrobeats parties, while voting for their favourite film to determine this year’s Audience Award winner for the best feature film. In addition, the festival has added some new features as it celebrates 10th edition, including a children’s screening on Sunday morning, a juried short film and feature film selection.
