Kelly Clarkson Replaces Simon Cowell On America’s Got Talent
Simon Cowell’s America’s Got Talent replacement has been announced as Kelly Clarkson. Cowell, 60, was forced to pull out of the live shows after breaking his back while testing an electric bike over the weekend.
Kelly will now fill for the mogul alongside regular judges Sofia Vergara, Heidi Klum, and Howie Mandel.
The pop star has plenty of talent show experience to bring to the panel, having worked as a coach on NBC’s talent show The Voice.
She also launched her singing career as a contestant on the first-ever series of American Idol back in 2002.
Simon will have to make do with watching the semi-finals of his talent show from home after recovering from surgery this week.
A source close to the star said he was ‘one centimetre from being paralysed’ after falling off an e-bike he was testing at his Malibu mansion.
He faced a six-hour operation that saw a metal rod placed into his back. Following his surgery, an insider said he’s already attempted to start walking again.
According to the source as reported by The Mirror:
He’s on his feet and walking around again as much as he can. He’s taking it easy but doing well, they told People magazine. Simon is already back at work and he’s been working on email on his iPad and speaking to a few on his team. He’s definitely not letting this slow down all the things he’s got going on.
After his appearance on AGT was questioned, pop star Kelly shared a memo on her Instagram page.
My friend Simon Cowell is doing much better now but was in an accident and won’t be able to make Tuesday and Wednesday’s live shows for AGT, but no worries America someone far wise and cooler, and hotter, is taking his seat! The unbelievably amazing Kelly Clarkson! You’re welcome in advance.
