Kenneth Petty, Nicki Minaj’s husband, was placed under house arrest after posting videos that appeared to threaten Offset, Cardi B’s husband, in violation of the terms of his probation.

Cardi B, 30, and Nicki Minaj, 40, are well-known for having a long-standing feud and have traded several online jabs over the years. The two Grammy-winning singers got into a fight in September 2018 at a party for New York fashion week.

Now the husbands of the musicians are making news of their own.

Petty, 45, was sentenced to 120 days of home detention in a court order that was submitted on September 20 in the Central District of California. The house arrest follows after he “was recorded on video making threatening remarks to a specific individual while in the company of someone with a criminal record”.

The “specific individual” mentioned in the order is the rapper Offset, 31, and the “video” in question relates to a series of messages Petty addressed to the rapper that appeared on social media on Saturday (16 September). In the video, Petty and a few of his friends are seen outside the New York City hotel where Offset was allegedly staying at the time in the social media video footage that went viral.

In it, Petty can be heard making some threatening comments, including: “Plan that vacation, you gonna be planning your funeral p***y!”

The videos breach the conditions of his probation. Petty received a three-year probation sentence in July 2022 after admitting guilt to not registering as a sex offender in California in 2020.

Petty was found guilty of first-degree attempted rape involving a 16-year-old girl in 1995, leading to a four-year imprisonment in New York.

Minaj, who has consistently defended her husband against social media criticism, entered into marriage with Petty in October 2019, and they are parents to an almost 2-year-old son, publicly referred to as Papa Bear.

In a post, Cardi addressed the situation saying, “EXACTLY. KEEP ME AND MY MANS OUT Y’ALL F**KIN’ MOUTH.” Minaj also hinted at her own husband’s situation by posting a cryptic GIF on Twitter. She followed it with an Instagram post promoting an upcoming “Queen Radio” episode, fueling the speculation that she might address the matter.
