Following the horrible car crash in September, American actor and comedian Kevin Hart makes his first public appearance at the People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles.

Robert Downey Jr. presented Hart with the Comedy Movie Star of 2019 award. In his acceptance speech, the “Jumangi” star referenced the near-fatal crash:

“Thank God because I definitely don’t have to be here. Being that I am, it makes me appreciate life even more — appreciate the things that really matter, family. I wanna thank my wife and my kids … I want to thank you all for being there for me during my difficult time.”

On the 1st of  September, 2019, Kevin Hart was involved in a ghastly accident, in which his 1970 Plymouth Barracuda, driven by his friend Jared Black, smashed into a tree on the Mulholland Highway near Malibu.

He suffered major back injuries that left him in the hospital for a month. The authorities blamed the accident on reckless driving.

In late October, the 40 year old spoke about his experience on his IGTV. He viewed the accident as Good speaking to him:

“In this case, I feel God basically told me to sit down.

“When God talks, you’ve got to just listen, some of the craziest things that happen to you ends up being the things you needed the most… After my accident, I see things differently, I see my life from a whole new perception. I don’t take today for granted, tomorrow is not promised”

Hart is married to wife Eniko Parrish and has three kids; sons Hendrix, 12, and Kenzo, two, and 14-year-old daughter Heaven.

Hart’s upcoming film Jumanji: The Next Level, a sequel to the 2017 film Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and the fourth installment of the Jumanji franchise, is set to be released in December.
