Kevin Hart Sues YouTuber Tasha K Over Alleged Extortion Attempt
Comedian Kevin Hart is embroiled in a legal battle with YouTuber Tasha K, accusing her of attempted extortion through a bombshell interview with his former assistant. According to a lawsuit obtained by Page Six, Tasha K, whose real name is Latasha Kebe, threatened to release the interview unless Hart paid her a hefty ransom of $250,000.
The lawsuit alleges that Kebe interviewed Hart’s ex-assistant, Miesha Shakes, in November 2023. During the interview, Shakes supposedly made “false and defamatory statements regarding Hart,” detailing sensitive information about his business dealings and personal life.
In December, Kebe reportedly contacted Hart’s representatives, informing them of the interview and demanding the exorbitant sum in exchange for keeping it under wraps. The lawsuit claims that Kebe alluded to a “ransom” and threatened to release the interview if Hart didn’t comply.
Hart, refusing to succumb to the alleged extortion attempt, took legal action. The lawsuit accuses Kebe of intentional interference with contractual relations, invasion of privacy, and defamation. Additionally, Hart is suing Shakes for breach of contract and defamation.
“Mr. Hart will not be bullied or extorted,” his attorney, Bryan Freedman, stated in a press release. “The claims in Ms. Kebe’s interview are demonstrably false and we will be taking swift legal action to protect Mr. Hart’s reputation and interests.”
This isn’t the first time Kebe has faced legal trouble for her online content. In 2019, she was found liable for defamation in a lawsuit filed by rapper Cardi B and ordered to pay $4 million in damages.
